强调是一种修辞效果，是为了对一定语境下的部分内容进行突出强调而采取的一种手段。

运用这种强调句型可以强调句子的主语、状语、宾语以及从句(主语从句，状语从句，宾语从句)等，一般不能用来强调谓语动词。

英语中的强调句式结构为It is ...that...，也就是：It is/was + 被强调部分+that+剩余部分。

二十世纪，女艺术家才被承认为精英艺术家。

强调时间状语：

It has been only during the twentieth century that women sculptors have been recognized as elite artists.

对原因状语进行强调

 

例句：

He was elected as one colonel because of his eligibility in many aspects.

他被选为陆军上校是因为在很多方面都具备能力。

强调时间状语：

It is because of his eligibility in many aspects that he was elected as one colonel.

强调宾语：

It is the name that one attributes to a complex commercial situation in a particular society.

 对宾语补足语进行强调 

 

例句：

They elected him the chairman of the Trade.

 

他们选他为工会的主席。

强调宾语补足语：

It was the chairman of the Trade Union that they elected him.
